    Current Holiday Commissions are done!

I'm not accepting any more commissions for this upcoming holiday season, but they always make great birthday, wedding, baby, or every day gifts. Here's the last 4 paintings I completed:

I was commissioned by my friend, Anisha, with the idea of some sort of New Orleans meets India aesthetic. She basically gave me free reign, which sometimes terrifies me, especially when it comes down to showing a client the final product. We chose to do canvas since it's a lighter weight option to hang, but I wanted to continue with letting the background show through as I do with wood. I created a paisley pattern to paint for the background first and then did a drip paint wash for the buildings. The main focus, of course is the umbrellas second lining/parading down the street, so I gave them more detailed attention, adding metallic paint and solid patterns.

After seeing some of my smaller fleurs, Jarod asked if I could make a larger version with yellow lilies for his sister. This is the first of the fleurs that I've done on a larger scale, but I would enjoy doing more. I have a few more pieces of wood this size just begging for the right flower and home to be together in.

Yes, you are seeing double. Ruthie commissioned me to paint 2 versions of Swan River Yoga's Mid City Mandir. I chose to do an almost reflection perspective, because I wanted to capture the unique architecture of the century old building in both paintings. I wanted them to compliment each other, but not be the exact same or for them to fit together like 2 pieces of one larger painting. Again, I've been playing with drip painting and how to allow the surface of what I'm painting to show through to the front. I ended up choosing to paint the building pretty thickly, because it is an old brick building, having the wood show under a thin wash just didn't reflect the spirit of the building.

Besides finishing those, I'm also currently designing a Swamp Monster Family Band for a T-shirt design.

Aaaaand...I've been invited to showcase my work with RAW New Orleans for their next show on January 20th! I'm still debating on what will be shown, but you can expect some new Harvest Womb pieces to be shown for the first time and some Telegraphing pieces to be up and for sale. I'll also be bringing some smaller Telegraphing prints and small scale paintings on wood that will be for sale that night! So mark your calendars and purchase tickets ahead of time (https://www.rawartists.org/tickets/purchase/1895/293557)

Lots of more exciting things on the horizon to keep y'all updated with.
