Holiday Craze
It's been a pretty hectic holiday season for numerous reasons. PWAT has been busy with lots of holiday parties and my PCA job is getting transitioned over to a different company so there's been a bit of trial and error with scheduling. In between works, I've been working on gifts for my family this Christmas which will be another update after the holiday to maintain the element of surprise.
Currently, on Produc(tion)...I still haven't decided on an official series title...I've laid out my next 3 paintings! Playing with some different sizes and wood types to see if I want to move in a different direction with compositions. My next 3 will be Ashley: Peach, Emily: Kiwi, and Zack: Sweet Potato.
I'm not sure if I like the more narrow format or not. It definitely makes the lay out process more interesting but I can't decide if it adds or detracts from the overall image yet.
After these next 3 paintings (and possibly an adventure in self-portraiture for the series) I'll be looking to do more studies with more models. So if you or someone you know is interested in participating, get at me.
On January 10th, I'll be submitting to the Tulane Film and Arts Festival. I know I have enough pieces for a full submissions but I'm trying to trick the procrastinator in myself to use this as a hard deadline to finish at least one more piece in time for submission. The festival shows in February and hopefully I'll be included and can update y'all further about that.
As always, I'm brainstorming new ideas and reworking old ones. There may be a couple video art pieces coming soon. I'm still playing around with an idea for a photography series and working on the Telegraphing digital design series. I've taken a break from working on the script for Sex, Drugs, and Whatever, to focus on more paintings, but I've got lots of notes to sort through when I pick it up again.
I did a pretty terrifying thing (for me, at least) this week and submitted a resume for a position at Everyday Feminism as a Program Associate. I feel extremely unqualified for the position but I think it would be really great to work for them. So I did it, I put together a professional and beautiful resume and submitted it. I didn't want to talk about applying before I submitted, because I'm so terrified of it. We'll see if anything comes from it.
They'll be another update soon after the holidays with photos of all the gifts I worked on the past month!
