Oh, Michaela!
Charlie and the portrait I did of Mickey (Oh! Michaela!) at Mickey's Memorial last Saturday (9-29-12)
This picture is from an article from The Advocate.
The memorial was truly beautiful while emotional and exhausting at the same time. It helped me to gain more closure and I'm hoping many other people were able to feel that way. While riding there on a two-seater bicycle with my sister, I had to prop the painting up on my back handlebars for the duration of the ride that backtracked Mickey's ride that night. I almost started crying and told my sister that we were taking her back; that Mickey was riding with us to the memorial. While I think Parc Internationale in Lafayette will never recover from the flood of glitter, I know I'll smile each time I go see music by what I now call the Glitter-brick Road. Tonight is a memorial in New Orleans for Mickey which I am attending with mixed emotions. I'm hoping that after tonight, we'll all be able to continue forward with Mickey in our hearts, always.
I'm updating my painting page to include a proper photo of Mickey's portrait as well as a portrait I did last May of my best friend, Clelie. Go here: Paintings to check them out.
