Too Many Squares
I'm trying to do too much at once. Again.
I have a sketchbook, a work journal, and a couple different painting surfaces laying around, all with little beginnings of work on them.
This is my dog, Morrison, "helping" me build painting surfaces. Needless to say, he's a little distracting.
It's always a slow process to making a complete series, especially with so much other work going on. I've been picking up a few freelance graphic design jobs and I got inducted into a DIY noise-y marching band within the past few months. So there's still been creating happening, just not all on the Produce series. However, I do have 6 frames/surfaces prepped and ready for the addition of the nude drawings I've done in the past months. Today, I'm spending the day tweaking tumbnails and then will start redrawing my friends onto the wooden painting surface. Dun dun DUN.
To help me to prepare for painting, I've been dusting off my style by doing a few sea creature paintings. I don't know why but they're just always interesting for me to do and help me to get back into my personal painting rhythm. One of them, a seahorse (below), was actually a baby shower gift for my coworker. Apparently, I made her cry, so I'll take it as a success. Other than that, it's just been doing a lot of prep work and thought work (anyone who has seen me work before knows I have to figure it out in my head first and then it's usually a quick transition to a semi-finished piece). Next time, I'll have some more finished paintings to show off.
