    The Teaches of Peaches

One more down! It's been so long since I had taken the time to finish a new Harvest Womb piece that it was almost like I had to re-learn my visual intention. I think the break actually paid off, though, and the next couple pieces will help me really unify my ideas with the finished piece. So here is Ashley: Peach...

I still have 2 more paintings already laid out, just waiting on me to get the energy to tackle them.  I'm taking a little break from Harvest Womb again, though. For me, it helps to do different types of things so I don't get stuck in one form.  Constantly working on people-centered paintings can cause a block for me where I'll have trouble working on parts.  With this painting, I started it a little differently and began with the peach instead of ending with it, which I think worked better. But I had a lot of trouble when I finally got to doing the face and hair and redid it several times.

I've currently been commissioned to do 3 7"x8" paintings of southern flowers. I've already laid them out, gessoed them, and attached hanging ribbon to them. They should be finished this weekend. If I enjoy making them and they help me loosen up my skills, you may see a new trend of little floral pieces coming out in between larger pieces.
